Gonomics and Proteomics, understanding host-pathogen interactions, database development and management, artificial intelligence, vaccines and drug designing, immunology

Present Status::

Serving under the DBT sponsored project ?Bioinformatics: Protein Engineering and Design?. Developing and maintaining Database Protein post-translational modification analysis and prediction by using support vector and other machine learning tools.

Previous Assignments ::

He did MSc Biotechnology from Madurai Kamaraj University obtained through nation wide entrance test conducted by Jawaharlal nehru University, New delhi. After completing MSc he did one year Post-graguate advanced diploma in Bioinformatics from Center of excellence in Bioinformatics, Madurai Kamaraj University.

In silico analysis and prediction of aminoacyl tRNA synthetases (AARS) and their ligands

Previous Assignments ::

: Bharat Panwar is originally belongs to Village Baytu,
Dist. Barmer, Rajasthan.
He did his Bachelor of Science (Chemistry, Botany and Zoology) from Lachoo
Memorial College,
Jodhpur in 2005. For completing his Post-graduation, Bharat moved to University
of Rajasthan
Jaipur, where he did his PG in Biotechnology in 2007. He has been awarded by
DBT-JRF, UGC-JRF and CSIR-JRF.
He joined Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) in February 2008 to pursue
his PhD in the field of Bioinformatics.
Currently Bharat is working as Senior Research Fellow under the supervision of

Dr. G P S Raghava in Bioinformatics centre.

Mr.Surendra Vikram(SRF)

Area of Interest ::

Understanding and characterization of genome of Burkholderia sp. strain SJ98 using bioinformatics and experimental technique.

Present Status::

Characterzation of enzymes involved in the degradation of p-nitrophenol.

Surendra Vikram belongs to Dist - Faizabad (UP). He graduated in Botany ,Chemistry ,Zoology and obtained Master degree in Microbiology from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University Faizabad (UP) Currently he is working as Senior Research Fellow in the field of Bioremediation Bioinformatics under the supervision of Dr. G.P.S. Raghava at the Institute of Microbial Technology.

Mr. Shailesh Kumar(JRF)

Development of in-silico tools for genome assembly and annotation from Next

Generation Sequencing data.
Present Status::

Genome assembly by using genome assemblers, Genome comparison and annotation.

He graduated from Jamia Millia Islamia University,New Delhi with Honours in
Biotechnology.
He did M.Sc Life Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU), New Delhi.
Currently he is a Research scholar under the supervision of Dr. G.P.S. Raghava
at Bioinformatics Centre of Institute of Microbial
Technology(IMTECH),Chandigarh.

Mr. Abid Qureshi(JRF)

Area of Interest ::
  • RNA Interference: Development of Improved software for automated prediction of highly potent siRNA using Machine learning techniques viz. Support Vector Machine, ANN, K nearest Neighbor etc.
  • Development of viral siRNA/miRNA database.
  • VirusSLpred: Development of SVM based method for predicting the sub-cellular localization of viral proteins within host and virus-infected cells. Phylogenetic/ Evolutionary Analysis of epidemic disease pathogens (Viruses) based on Nucleotide/ Protein Sequences.

    Abid Qureshi graduated in science from Sri Pratap College, Srinagar Kashmir (2008). He completed his masters in biotechnology from Kashmir University (2010). He joined IMTECH in august 2010.

    Ravi Kumar earned his B.Sc from University College, Kurukshetra university kurukshetra in Biological science with Botany, Zoology and Chemistry as the main subjects. He did his post-graduation from Dr BR Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research (ACBR), University of Delhi, Delhi. Right now he is working as a senior research fellow at Bioinformatics centre of Institute of Microbial Technology, under the supervision of Dr Gajeandra PS Raghava.

      • Presently working as a research fellow under the co-guidance of Dr. Girish Sahni and Dr. Balvinder Singh in Therapeutic Protein Project.

      Before joining for PhD at IMTECH, Vijaya had a short Lectureship experience at HMV College, Jalandhar. She has done Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics from JNU, Delhi. She Post Graduated from M.S University, Baroda in Biotechnology and Done her Bachelors in Microbiology from Gargi College, Delhi University.

      Protien Structure determination by using crystallisation and bioinformatics tools , Protein and peptide chemistry.

      • Working on a MTB protein for its crytallisation.

      I did Master in Biotechnology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), New Delhi. I worked on Alzheimer's amyloid beta peptide to solublize this peptide which is a major culprit in this deadly neural disease. .
