A Special Seminar on “The Genomic and Epigenomic basis of Diseases”

20 - December -2017    Duration: 09:30 AM To 11:00 AM

Venue: Seminar Hall Main Building

Speaker: Dr. Dinesh Kumar, senior scientist, Translational Sciences Unit of Sanofi-USA.

Dinesh did his PhD from the Swedish node of European Molecular Biology Labs (EMBL) and got a long-term fellowship from Swedish research and Medical council to pursue his postdoctoral studies from MIT and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Dinesh is passionate about genomic basis of drug discovery and works on the interface of neurobiology and computational biology. The focus of Dinesh’s current research is to understand the genetic and epigenetic basis of neurodegenerative disease and have an active collaboration with The Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at MIT and with Harvard medical school. Dinesh has been a part of several large-scale genomics projects, including the NIH Roadmap Epigenomic project, the Encyclopedia of DNA Elements (ENCODE) project, and the Genotype Tissue-Expression (GTEx) project.
