Title: Functional Microbiome Analysis within Galaxy Framework

About Speaker: Dr. Jagtap is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a co-lead on the Galaxy-P project (galaxyp.org) and has helped manage the project from its inception. In 2000, Pratik received his PhD degree at the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad (India). After his PhD - until 2002, he was a proteomics consultant at Bio-Rad Laboratories (India). During his post-doctoral research in the Schuster Lab (2002-2004) at the Max-Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tuebingen (Germany) and in the Andrews Lab (2004-2008) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (USA), he worked on genomic and post-genomic analysis of Bdellovibrio - an endosymbiont bacterium. In 2008, he joined the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute as a proteomics consultant and later as a manager of scientific consulting group. From 2013 to 2016, he managed the Center for Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Core Facility in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Since 2016 - as a Galaxy-P project co-lead - he has worked with the team to utilize and publish various multi-step, shareable and versatile workflows for multi-omic data analysis. His current research interests include developing analytical workflows for analysis of complex data, with particular emphasis on on MS-based proteomics applications in metaproteomicsproteogenomics and data-independent acquisition (DIA) data analysis.
