SPEAKERS INTRODUCTION
 

Dr. Anil Koul
Patron & Director, CSIR-IMTech Dr. Anil Koul, prior to taking the charge of Director, CSIR-IMTech, was Senior Director &Head, Respiratory Infections Discovery group at healthcare multinational Johnson & Johnson. He has more than 16 years of experience in pharmaceutical drug discovery research and clinical development. He obtained his Ph.D. from Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry in Munich, Germany and Delhi University, Delhi. As a part of continued education, in 2011, he attended a short residential program at Harvard Business School,USA on innovation, strategy and leadership. Dr. Anil Koul has been a key scientist in discovery and clinical development of SIRTURO (generically called Bedaquiline) - the first drug to be granted approved by United State's FDA and EU in last 45 years. Bedaquiline has been approved till date more than 25 countries across the world. In 2015, India’s ministry of health conditionally approved bedaquiline. In 2013, he was awarded "Johnson Medal", the highest R&D prize by Johnson and Johnson for contributions to discovery and development of Bedaquiline. He was invited to European Parliament to present to members of Europe-India Chamber of Commerce on Bedaquiline and issues of global public health. Earlier, he was also awarded 'The Philip B. Hofmann Prize ' for his discovery of Bedaquiline's mode ofaction. He has also been conferred with "Swiss-TB prize" by Switzerland's Society of Pneumology for outstanding scientific research (2005).

Dr. Raman Parkesh
Raman Parkesh currently holds Principal Scientist position in Institute of Microbial Technology, (IMTECH), a premier CSIR institute. He obtained his BSc and MSc from the University of Jammu. He completed PhD from Trinity College, Dublin and went to Oxford University and The Scripps Research Institute for postdoctoral work. His current research interest includes computational medicinal chemistry, chemoinformatics, epigenetics, RNA drug discovery, supramolecular chemistry, fluorescent chemosensors for biologically important ions, solid-phase peptoid and peptide synthesis, and development of small molecules probes for various infectious and neurodegenerative diseases. Raman is the inventor on the patent for design and synthesis of Nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NAADP) antagonist, which is now a commercial success. Raman has published about 45 research papers in high impact journals such as Nature Chemical Biology, Journal of Anatomy, JACS, ACS chemical Biology, Nucleic Acid Research, 3 book chapters and one patent and has won various fellowship and awards such as Oxford University Merit Award, CSIR quick hire fellowship, Trinity College Postgraduate Award, National Science Talent Promotion and CSIR-UGC net fellowship.

Sh. K K Bhagchandani
Following a Masters in Physics with an MBA, K.K. Bhagchandani has worked in the life sciences industry for 24 years. Having started his career in India working for pharmaceutical industry leaders Ranbaxy and Pfizer, he made a change in his career path with a move to software and IT. Since 2001 he has been involved in the Asian business world working for global IT-Software companies that provide enabling technologies for pharmaceutical and chemical R&D. In 2003 he joined ACD/Labs (a leader in software for Structure Characterization, predictive ADME-Tox, PhysChem, and nomenclature software; a company providing solutions for impurity profiling, natural products characterization and chemical + analytical knowledge management). At ACD/Labs he is spearheading the Asian Business Unit, since he started the Asian operations for them. He is recognized for his involvement in the API-Research industry and Natural Products initiatives across Asia. Recipient of ‘Glory of India’ award, ‘International Achiever’ award and ‘Bharat Udyog Ratan’ award; he has been a regular presenter at international scientific conferences and meetings, introducing science that will help increase efficiency and productivity in R&D.

Prof. S. S. Bari
Prof. S. S. Bari is currently working as Honorary Professor in Shoolini University. Prof. Bari has research experience of 41 years and has 83 publications in highly reputed journals. Prof. Bari was honored with a coveted BHARAT JYOTI AWARD by India International Friendship Society 2005.

Dr. Bhawani Shankar Joshi
Dr. Joshi obtained his PhD from CDRI and currently working as application scientist and Director of Bruker India Pvt. Ltd. He has 16 years of experience in the field of organic chemistry and NMR and has many fellowships and awards to his credit such as CSIR fellowship, best poster award for “high-resolution ex vivo and in vitro proton NMR study in breast cancer. He has 27 publications in high impact journals and 3 patents to his credit.

Mr. Charitra Gour
Mr. Charitra Gour is currenly working as Technical Consultant in Scube Scientific, New Delhi. Mr. Gour did is MPharm from Amity University, Noida. He has extensive experience in various computational and nmr software program such as Mnova, Guassian, LigandScout, ChemDraw, Gamess etc. He has delivered training of these softwares in CSIO, Chandigarh, Central University of Jammu, IIT Patna etc.

Sh. Avtar Singh
Sh. Avatar Singh is currently working as Technical officer and NMR operation head, SAIF PU, Chandigarh. Sh. Avtar Singh has more than 30 years of experience in NMR operation, analysis and interpretation

Dr. Rethi Madhathil
Dr. Rethi Madthil is currently working as women scientist in CSIR-IMTECH. Dr. Rethi Madathil completed her B. Sc & M. Sc in Chemistry from Calicut University (Payyanur College) and Pune University (Chemistry Dept.) respectively. She then obtained Polymer Science and Engineering Division, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. Dr. Rethi then joined nano science Lab in Trinity College, Dublin as postdoctoral research associate and then moved to the University of Oxford as a post doc with Prof. Hagan Bayley who is a pioneer in Chemical biology. Currently, Dr. Rethi is working as a women scientist in Institute of Microbial Technology and her research efforts are directed towards the development of innovative antibiotics. Her research interest is in the area of nanomaterials, chemical biology, polymer technology and antimicrobial agents. She received many awards and fellowships such GATE fellowship, CSIR-NET fellowship, Arnold Graves Fellowship, Oxford University Research Fellowship, DBT Bio-care Fellowship. She has many patents and publications including JACS, Macromolecules and PCT patents.

Mr. SRINIVASA L Poojary
Mr. SRINIVASA L Poojary is NMR Application Specialist, JEOL INDIA Pvt Ltd. will deliver talk on A recent developments on Solution State NMR Spectroscopy.

Mr. Ganesh Lal Meena
Mr.Ganesh Lal Meena is currently working as technical Assistant, IMTECH, Chandigarh Mr. Meena has extensive experience in co-coordinating NMR Workshop and chemistry labs in IISER.

Mr. Chander Prakash Midha
Mr. Chander Prakash Midha is currently working as Technician NMR operation, IMTECH Mr. Chander Prakash Midha has 14 years of hands-on experience in NMR operation.
