Eligibility

Candidates with Master's Degree (M.Sc./M.Tech/M.Pharm) with minimum aggregate of 55% marks (without rounding off) or equivalent in CGPA in any branch of Science or Technology are eligible to apply. The minimum aggregate of marks in case of OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third Gender candidates are 50% (without rounding off) or equivalent in CGPA. Candidates should also have a valid and tenable National-level fellowship from CSIR-UGC NET/DBT-JRF examination (‘A’ Category only)/DST-INSPIRE Fellowship/ICMR-JRF examination or equivalent fellowship like DBT-BET, RGNF etc.

Candidates with lecturer-ship/Assistant Professor ship only in CSIR-UGC (NET) examination or Candidates selected for working only in ICMR or DBT Projects or Candidates having M.Sc/M.Tech/ M.Pharm with GATE/GPAT are NOT eligible.

OR

Sponsored candidates for Master’s degree in Science with minimum 55% marks (without rounding off) or equivalent grade for General (UR)/General-EWS and minimum 50% marks (without rounding off) or equivalent grade for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third Gender and Persons with Disability (PwD). Endorsement (NOC) from the current employer is mandatory.

Selection Process

The eligible candidates will be called for interview either in person at CSIR-IMTech, Chandigarh or through online mode. The interview will be aimed at assessing the candidate’s knowledge, critical analysis, logical reasoning and aptitude for scientific research. The result of the selected candidates will be declared on AcSIR website. The fee for the PhD program is as per AcSIR fee structure.

In case, the interviews are held in person at CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh, then those appearing for the interview must be prepared to stay in Chandigarh for three days, which is the approximate time required to finalize the process. No TA/DA or any other expenses will be paid for appearing in the interview.

How to apply

The application should be submitted online at http://acsir.res.in. The last date for submitting the application is September 17^th, 2023.

Important to Note:

1.    The document verification process cannot be followed in the online mode of interviews.  Therefore, all shortlisting, selection etc. would be provisional and will be confirmed only after verification of all relevant documents. In case of any deficiency of any type in the documents, the candidature would automatically stand cancelled any time on finding such a deficiency. Please note that valid proofs of Fellowship awarded and other necessary documents are mandatory for appearing in the interview.

2.     The candidates who are waiting for results of qualifying examinations may also appear for interview but their joining is subject to clearing the eligibility criteria.

3.      The fellowship MUST be valid and tenable at the time of joining CSIR-IMTECH.

4.    Admission of candidates having DST-INSPIRE fellowship or any other fellowship may stand cancelled in case candidate fails to obtain fellowship from the respective funding agencies. CSIR-IMTech will not provide any financial support to such candidates.

5.  Candidates must also state their present occupation/enrolment status in the institute or university/information about fellowship activation etc., in the AcSIR application. Any concealment may result in cancellation of admission at any stage.

6.   Mere fulfillment of the minimum requirements stipulated in the advertisement would not automatically entitle a person for selection.

7.   Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification.

Accommodation

Separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls in the campus may be provided to the admitted candidates as per availability.

Information and Instructions for Second round of interview for admission to AcSIR-IMTECH PhD program (January, 2024 session)

(Only for those candidates who have cleared first round of interview)

·       Second round of interview, shall be held in person from 4^th to 5^th December, 2023.

·       Candidates have to report on 4^th December, 2023 at CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh, sharp 8:30 am.

·       Candidates need to bring the following documents for attending the interview:

Ø  The certificates for date of birth and SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH issued by the competent authority and award letter for JRF fellowship from funding agencies (such as CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/DST-INSPIRE etc.) are required to be produced in original.

Ø  Candidates should bring final degree certificate or provisional certificate along with detailed mark sheet(s)/transcripts showing the final percentage. Candidates are expected to convert their CGPA into percentage according to the formula as per their university rules. Candidates with awaited results may also appear for interview subject to meeting all other eligibility criteria. If selected, the candidate will have to produce proof of degree, latest by the time of joining.

Ø  Candidates must also state their present occupation/employment/enrollment, if any, before the interview and should produce no objection certificate (NOC) accordingly.

Ø  Industry/Academic/Research Institute sponsored candidates are required to bring endorsement from respective employer explicitly mentioning the period of academic leave and financial support that includes salary and contingency etc., if any.

·       No TA/DA shall be paid to the shortlisted candidates for attending the interview. Candidates are supposed to make their own arrangements for accommodation to attend the interview.

·       Candidates who are coming for interview must be prepared to be present in Chandigarh for two days (4^th to 5^th December, 2023). 

·       The result of second round of interview shall be available on AcSIR Portal.
